Silicone fluid or silicone oil usually refers to linear polysiloxane products that retain liquid status under room temperature. Methyl silicone fluid is the most popular (widely used) and the most important variety among many kinds of silicone fluids, which followed by methyl phenyl silicone fluid.
Various silicone fluids and modified silicone oils are mainly used for special purposes. Dimethicone silicone fluid is a colorless and transparent new synthetic polymer material with a variety of different viscosities (from 0.65cps to 1,000,000cps), from extremely flowable liquids to thick semi-solids. It has special smoothness, flexibility, water repellency, good chemical stability, superior electrical insulation and resistance to high and low temperatures. Besides, it has high flash point, low freezing point, can be used stably in long term at -50°C~200°C temperature range, low viscosity-temperature coefficient, high compression rate, low surface tension, good hydrophobicity and moisture-proof, and low specific thermal conductivity.
Based on chemical structure, silicone fluids include methyl, ethyl, phenyl, methyl hydrogen, methyl phenyl silicone oil, methyl chlorophenyl, methyl ethoxy, methyl trifluoropropyl, methyl vinyl, methyl hydroxyl, ethyl hydrogen (polyethyl hydrogen), hydroxyl hydrogen, and hydrogen silicone fluid. In terms of application (function), there are damping silicone fluid, hydraulic fluid, insulating oil, heat-transfer oil, brake fluid, premium lubricating oil, defoamers, mold release agent, polishing agent, isolating agent and vacuum diffusion pump oil, emulsion can be used for car tire and dashboard polishing. After being emulsified or modified, silicone fluid can be used for smooth and soft hand-feel finishing of textiles, daily care products, etc.
